Post-season 5. Carol doesn't want Daryl to go out scouting so much. Daryl doesn't like fake homemaker Carol. Fate decides to do something about it.

In short, Negan's men taint their weapons with walker gore to give anyone injured the fever. Dwight shoots Daryl with an arrow in the battle, and Tobin manages to get Daryl to safety but is stabbed in the process. As everyone injured falls ill they realise what Negan has done and know any injury, however slight, will be fatal. Unbeknown to them all Dwight has been true to his word, and has shot Daryl with a clean arrow.
Carol tends to Tobin and then Daryl on their respective death beds.
After the events of Coda, the group finds a large estate with walls and locking doors. However, it's the opening of doors that changes things for Daryl and Carol during their time there.

Set sometime in season 5. Tara's discovery that they can keep track of the date in Alexandria, leads to some imaginative Christmas gift giving.
Daryl and the band of marauding brothers arrive at their home, Terminus, where Daryl learns more of their view of the world and the vistors who arrive there.
